If your goal is necessary maintenance I would replace the filter caps in the dog house and leave it at that. While doing that you can measure the resistors in there. Anything terrible could be replaced as well.I also have a Silverface Bassman 50 (was told it's a '76). I haven't used it in almost 7 years. was the perfect platform for pedals, and when I was healthy I could plug the "acoustic" side of my Godin into the Bass channel and the electric side with the pedalboard into the normal channel.
it was really loud with my 4x12 and enough with a 2x12.. Long gone are the days of carrying a Head, Cab, pedalboard and a 12Lbs. Guitar to gigs.. I should get it out of storage and take some pics.
I don't see myself doing any mods to the amp but would like to know what would make this circuit better (as in better components and layout than Fender did). or should I try my luck and build an amp myself???
