Aion Binary Dual Fuzz (bass fuzz/dist) (video demo added)

I was semi-expecting issues due to the part count and the crowded layout, but it worked perfectly first time.

I also had to convert two of the pots; I got version 1 of the PCB which has an error, and I wanted the pots to work as they do on the original pedal. So, clipped prongs 1 & 3 from two of the pots and soldered on some solid core wires to cross over. I'd have to take the pedal apart to photograph that, so you'll just have to imagine it. Works, anyway, and that's what matters. I also tried running the off-board wires under the PCB for a neater look, which I'm quite pleased with.

Yes the footswitch looks like it's not soldered, I decided to go with a minimal amount of solder rather than flooding the prong holes. It all works perfectly and there's less danger of ruining the switch by overheating it.

Sounds great; very chunky and with a clean blend so you don't lose the low end. I've only tried it with my baritone guitar (A-A) so far, but I'll get my bass out of its hidey hole and try that too. Might record a demo if I feel inspired enough. The "duality" knob shifts between two different types of drive; distortion to the left and fuzz to the right. Both sound good, and there's a bit of variety in the in-between range.

Knobs are:

FILTER (tone) / DUALITY (dist/fuzz)
LEVEL / BLEND (clean/effect)

Demo video, four minutes of messing about.

Squier Jaguar Bass, full scale, P pickup only.

My phone coped fairly well with the low end but it struggled with the lowest parts.
Sounds great but I'm distracted by those fat mini chickenhead knobs. Link?

Almost all of my knobs come from AliExpress.

I've bought mini-chickenheads from and had no problems with:

There are many more sellers with the same stuff, just follow links.

NOTE - These knobs are for split shaft pots, they're held on by friction and have no set screw. They won't fit on smooth shaft pots (unless you drilled out the hole, I guess).

EDIT: There may be sellers on AE that have similar knobs that'll work with smooth shaft pots... the only ones I can find on a quick search are larger knobs that may be too large for effect pedals.

EDIT 2: Attached a pic of a Tone Vendor build with
red mini chickenheads. Be bold, let the colours clash.

Also, I love bass and baritone, so I've built a few low-end-friendly pedals, such as :
...and some others, but those are my favourites.

18 spline (metric) shaft I imagine.
I always forget that ALiexpress exists

That sounds great. I'm gonna have to keep that one in mind if I ever catch up but also

Looks like...

A couple of eggs and a pickle!

I'm not a fan of Chickenhead Knobs, but those kettle knobs from AliExpress look okay. Never seen 'm before!
Will have to search for ones for splineless-shaft instead of bifurcated ...
