Aion Dist + diode question. UPDATED with DEMO of ALL clipping options.

So I built an Aion Aphelion which is their Dist+/250. This pcb has a clipping switch to go from Silicon to Germanium to LED clipping. The thing I'm confused about is how the documentation talks about wiring the silicon clipping. There are spaces for 4 diodes in the silicon section, but they say to jumper 2 of them by default which I've done. It does sound a hair shitty. Am I supposed to use 4 1N914s?

PS. LEDs sound amazing in this circuit. Like way better than the other two. Should be the default imo.

UPDATE. Demo of all clipping options:

What you have is correct. You can use four if you’d rather have 2x2 symmetrical clipping. Or you could jumper one and populate the other to have 1x2 asymmetrical clipping.

You’d probably like one of the other options more than the 1x1 you currently have since you dig the LEDs.

Super helpful, thank you! Is 2x2 more gain?

2x2 is more headroom, less compression--closer to the LED sound.
It gives a slightly softer distortion and more volume, less compressed

What's that? You want to hear me play through ALL the silicon clipping options, as well as LED, and Germanium diodes including Klonesque D9E?

Well my friend you've come to the right place!

Saddle up partner!
