My latest build is an AionFX Lumitron. I built the PPCB Duckbox and it just wasn’t responsive in the way I thought it would be. Despite changing out C10 from 2.2n to 22n, which improved the sensitivity tremendously, it was still quite limited in my estimation.
The Lumitron / Mu-Tron III / “HBM QuackTron III” is so much more usable. Being able to tweak the filters, the peak and the sweep makes groovy with both bass and guitar. I actually built two. One for me and one for a great friend that is a virtuoso bassist. I’m looking forward to to it bringing the funk!
This was my first AionFX build, I found the build docs thorough and helpful. They added some insights that were useful.
I did change out C11 from 2.2uF to 1uF based on an article I read on the Reddit diypedals forum because I couldn’t get my hands on a 2.2uF film cap that would fit. I had initially placed a 2.2iF MLCC there. But changed it out before even firing the pedal up.
I really like it. It is very tweakable on both guitar and bass.
