Amp? Or this?

That’s all the origin is good for in my personal opinion and Marshall should’ve marketed it as such. I take great issue with Marshall trying to pass this off as “plexi” sounding. It has a cathode and cold biased el34 power amp section, that when pushed, has crossover distortion. That’s not plexi sounding at all.

Edit: @MichaelW I think you’d be better off trying to get a plexi sound from a pedal rather than the Origin on its own. It just doesn’t do it based on what I said above. Marshall did some wonky shit in the preamp section too but, that’s a rant for another day.
Headfirst has an Origin Plexi mod on yt

I use both the Tonex (I'm a sucker for modeling potential...but it has drawbacks) and Amplitube because it allows me to drag in audio files to learn tunes. If you want to run your guitar thru your computer Amplitube is a no brainer. Check out the free version and if you love it wait for the Black Friday sale to get the Max package for pennies.

It's like when you look in the mirror but there's a mirror behind you too and you see like 1000 people moving the same time you do and uh.... what was the question? Never mind time for another hit from the '23 harvest and another one of these vodka and water...... :sneaky:

Tonex is awesome. Sounds crazy good and responds to drives/boosts very well.
My only real gripe is the size and that it’s only mono input. I like to run my wet effects in stereo and into the front of the amp which you can’t do with Tonex. If you run mono or prefer wets post-amp then it’s killer.

I will also say that it’s not quite the same “feel wise”. Not exactly sure how to describe it… it feels like playing a really well mixed and post-produced amp and less like just plugging in to an amp, if that makes sense. Like it’s very polished and “finished” feeling and less “raw”. But I personally find that to be inherent to “captures” in general. In that regard some of the newer modelers might not sound as good but often have a bit more of a natural feel to me.

Anyways all that to say if UA’s Marshall is as good as their Vox or Fender offerings, it will be a great product. I’ve had Helix, Amplifire, Iridium, ACS1, Tonex, and spent a good time playing with Kemper and Fractal and have settled on Ruby+Dream for now. They are far less versatile than most other offerings (and expensive for what you get) but for me have had the best combination of sound+feel. I’m looking forward to trying this one out, hopefully soon!

So would plugging into an interface then into amplitude be the same as running to tonex?
