Anyone else using pots they bought for pedals in their instruments?

When I stuck an Electra in my Mustang, I got rid of the terrible electronics and replaced them with STOMP brand pots and MLCC caps. Anyone else done this? I can't believe what people want to charge for "guitar" pots.

I recently bought tayda pots to put in a bass project I have planned so technically I have not done this yet but I'm about to. I just got pots with lugs instead of pcb pins.

Yep! I added a bass knob to a tele and needed the smaller pot to fit all three in there neatly. I don’t gig with it or anything but it seems fine!

I personally won’t. Electrically they may be perfectly fine, but mechanically there’s a noticeable difference in the feel both in terms of smoothness of rotation and play of the shaft a lot of the time. I don’t go crazy with pots or anything, but generally bronze-shaft 24mm pots have a much more uniform travel, so it’s well worth the $3-5 each for me. Plus I like J-taper pots for volume, which are harder to come by in 16mm and 9mm varieties

I use them. But I’m a guitar player that doesn’t mess with my volume or tone. So the feel or smoothness doesn’t matter. They stay put. I do all my tone shaping and voluming with my pedals.

when i built a les paul and a firebird (kit builds) - the kits all came with 16mm pots and they're just fine.
