Back to overdrives.
I've been on an uber vintage kick with overdrives lately and really digging some of the early proto-TS808 type pedals.
The Boss OD-1 is one that I have been really enjoying and I'm looking forward to building the GOTA/Sheepy love edition......maybe later today
So what does this have to do with the Increment Drive?
Well, according to an interview with Dave Barber I watched, along with some of his demo's, (Dave is a pretty good guitar player!)
The "PLUS" is based on an OD-1 circuit with some voicing tweaks and options for adding bass and cutting treble via the two 3 way toggles.
This pedal definitely has the OD-1 vibe but has much more bass than a stock OD-1. (One of the complaints of the OD-1)
The clipping sounds a little more granular than the OD-1 which is a bit more saturated. But overall there's no denying the origins of the Increment.
(Full disclaimer, I ordered the mojo "pulse" clipping diodes from PedalPCB.)
I'm a Barber Fanboi and it's great to add the PLUS to my collection. It's been sitting in my signal chain since I built it but not sure if it will earn a (semi) permanent place or not.
Nevertheless, a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BUILD. Low to medium gain drive that sounds great as a standalone drive and also sounds great pushing a dirty amp or another drive pedal.
This is the first time I used the Tayda Brown Sand color. I dig it!
I have a bunch of SMD TL072's and I'm trying to use them where I can, thus the adapter board for the opamp.
Also, the BIG ASS 47n box film caps was a "whoopsie" order from Tayda years ago. I'm using them up wherever there's room to use them.
(Don't tell @Guardians of the analog......
