Baritone or conversion neck?

I'm toying around with the idea of getting a baritone and my eye has been on a PRS SE 277. REALLY nice looking guitar. I've also got a Mexican Strat that I don't play as much as I should and am considering just a conversion neck. The PRS is $800 and the neck is $250-400 depending on which route you go. Either way it's a chunk of change and not sure which I should get. Thoughts?

I'm not a big PRS guy so I can't comment on those without bias. I do know a couple of people who've converted squier strats and they're very happy with the results.

Also Amazon has some conversion necks for around $70. Maybe get a cheap one on there and see if you like it before dumping big bucks on a real one. I’ve bought a few necks off of Amazon and haven’t had any issues. The sellers I bought from had their stores taken down probably because of fender headstocks.

They don’t look like fender if you blur out the headstock! 🤣

I’ve been eyeballing the Rivolta and Reverend baritone models. They look really cool.

Edit: the Reverend is actually 27” which is the main thing I don’t like about it.

Anyone know a good and relatively cheap source for a conversion neck without having to move the bridge? Amazon seems tempting, but not sure if anyone’s done this

the two necks I’ve bought off Amazon were of excellent quality. They were ALMOST as good as the Warmoth necks I’ve bought. Plus you can always return shit to Amazon if it sucks

I was trying to figure that out as well. I read some reviews of the Fender ones complaining that they are not conversion necks, and others that indicated the opposite so I’m not quite sure there. Have you tried Warmoth? They most certainly have what you want.

They seem like they do, but for the cost you may as well get an entry to intermediate guitar

Edit: I was looking at the custom shop. $250 seems like a decent deal to get what I want

Before I left Facebook, the baritone obsessed guys were sharing good experiences. They were on thin side, if I recall. Thinner than Warmoth

My absolute favorites are DC Kunkle's, though they are on the fatter side at a full inch thickness. I'm unsure if he offers any options to thin them out. I think the shortest he makes is 28.625"

I have a Warmoth conversion, with a 59 carve, so it’s very solid. I truly love it! 14-68 strings, tuned to B. I would take this over a PRS Baritone pretty much any day.

I'm absolutely not a humbuckers guy, but the Lace Alumitones are fucking awesome, if you've never given them a try. 2 of my 3 guitars are Alumies

I made a bass with one of those and it did not suck. Well... the bass was just OK but the pickup was not the culprit.
