Big Muff with Wicker Issue

My son’s friend left his Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker pedal at our house so I tried it out. I was about done messing with it when I tried the Volume at the extreme settings. Going down to the bottom the sound cuts out sooner than it should. Going to the top it gets a crackle sound. And I think it is affecting the tone as it is being rotated. Does that sound like anything specific that might be wrong?

No. The sound dies out just under 9 o'clock on the CCW rotation so there's a bit more turning until it gets to full down. It seems a bit soon. And the crackle starts just after 3 o'clock on the CW rotation so same thing, there's a chunk more to go before full up. The crackle is in addition to the effected sound and this is where it seem to get a little brighter in addition to louder.

Any chance it's the pot itself scratchy?

There's not a whole lot that could go wrong with the volume control.... a bad pot or leaky C2.

It doesn't make any scratchy / dirty pot sounds like I've experienced on other things when turning it back and forth.

I found some photos of the inside and the pot and C2 are within my skillset to try and replace. I think.
