Bluetooth headphone rec's

Hey folks,

I'm looking for some Bluetooth earbuds and would like some successions from you all if you don't mind.

I'm looking for something that doesn't rely on suctioning or wedging itself inside your rear. I hate that feeling (and the bass sounds so unnatural to me that way) and prefer my ear holes be able to get a little airflow and I also like being able to hear the ambient noises around me since I use them to walk around outside.

I really like the Apple headphones for this reason and that's what I use normally, but the mic on the wire gets caught on my collar all the time and the cord is barely long enough to keep my phone in my pocket anyways. I don't mind if they go around my ear or anything.

Thanks!

I use the soundcore liberty air 2 ones and couldn't be happier. No idea how it compares to the nothing ones. Might have to check those out

Don't know if it's quite what you're after...They're a bit odd, take some getting used to, but Shokz (I think they used to be branded as AfterShokz?) bone conduction headphones are really quite solid nowadays. I don't mind a good "in-ear" and/or noise-cancelling headphone but they're nice to go for a run or something where you want to be able to hear your surroundings.

@peccary if you end up going with the nothing buds, let us know how they work out for you.

I went ahead and ordered these on Saturday night and they arrived on Monday. I listened to them last night for a while and have had them in at work for about an hour.

It is very early but I have to say that I love them so far. Here's the hits, so far:

1) I have had three or four other pairs of BT earbuds and I have hated them all. The fat rubber bits that suction in to your ears make me feel claustrophobic and hot - I know it's strange and that I must be in the minority but I just can't stand having my ears plugged up.

2) To me, having my ears plugged up with rubber make the bass sound boomey and unnatural. I get that the rubber helps them stay in your ears but it's never been worth it to me.

3) I have a set of wired Apple headphones that I've been using for ages because I really like the way they fit in my ears. These fit similarly, where they kind of wedge in a bit between the front and back part of your ear. These are actually more comfortable than the Apple ones because the Nothings are more rounded-off.

4) These Nothings sound better than my Apple wired headphones - noticeably - and I actually like the way the Apple earbuds sound. The sound is very full and the bass has a bit more heft to it.

5) The buttons are *actually buttons* - not just touch sensitive - so you don't accidentally press them when adjusting the ear buds. My previous set were so sensitive that you'd touch them to press them back in and you'd skip a song or pause or whatever which was very annoying.

6) They pair so easily. I've had sets that work well pairing and those that don't, these were by far the easiest. I downloaded the app and it did it all for me, no holding for X seconds to see two flashing lights or anything. They also pair automatically when I slide open the case and un-pair (?) automatically when I put them back in. Nice and easy, not even a button to press.

I take long walks on my lunch break and I'll give an update as to how they stay in with walking. My guess though is that for serious running they would probably not work well, though I would guess for walking/jogging woud be fine but if you want workout headphones these probably are not them.

Super early, I know, but I thought I'd share my first impressions.

That’s awesome! I’m glad they’re working out well for you! I appreciate the write up. I might get a set for myself too since I have similar feelings about the silicone tips.

Thanks again for the suggestion. I'd never heard of this brand and these earbuds got pretty positive reviews - I'm glad I took the chance on them.

I have a problem with Bluetooth earbuds falling out of my ears but I mostly like to use them while doing strenuous activies

I had a nice pair of waterproof Sennheiser wraparound headphones that were great for running and working out in, but then my dog ate them. I just don't think the in ear buds are really meant for getting your grunt on.

Another quick update on these Nothing earbuds:

When I left work the day before yesterday it was storming pretty bad - at least bad for us Southern Californians. Heavy rain and lots of wind. The wind blew my umbrella in to my head and knocked an ear but out, which flew in to a puddle of water in the grass and dirt, totally submerged. I pulled it out, wiped it off with my shirt, and it worked fine - so a nice little inadvertent test of it's water resistance.

I also wore them most of the day yesterday as it's my WFH day and they were super comfortable. Again I just have to say that they sound fantastic, especially compared to the Apple ones I was using previously. I also made a call on them to my partner and she said that they sounded good when we talked.

They also stay connected to your phone through walls for a decent distance. I can leave my office suite and go to the bathroom around the corner without taking my phone and they work fine. I can also visit the suite across the hall from my office suite and they work fine. That's kind of a trip because I've had others that seemed to have a hard time keeping a connection in a backpack while I was wearing it.

I've owned a few Bluetooth earbuds and I can honestly say that I have hated them all. Like, actually hated. I loved the idea of them but when I got them they all turned out to be garbage. Granted, I only ever spent about $70 max on them and these were $99, so it may be that I'm just a cheapskate who has been paying the idiot tax these past few years trying out different earbuds.

Either way I really like these Nothings quite a lot. They sound great, the bass is strong and natural, they sound very full and fit in my ears great. I'd say if you like the way that the wired Apple headphones wedge in to your hear then you'll like how these fit. they're very similar but I think just a tad more secure. They also get loud. Most earbud headphones I've used I have to turn up all the way (and even then it can be lacking sometimes) but these tend to hang around 3/4 of the way up, and I think it's nice to have that extra space to turn them up if needed.
