Bootleg Overdive sounds splatty

Just built the Bootleg Overdrive and it sounds kind of splatty, especially when I dig in with my pick, also it doesn't seem to get very loud, the volume control doesn't do much past noon. Is this how it's supposed to be? Anybody else feel this way about theirs?

Sounds like you messed something up.

Post pictures of your build, ideally both sides of the pcb
