Boss CE3 LED not working with 9v

Pulled out my old CE 3 that I inherited from a band I was in that ended 17 years ago. (The guy who this belonged to has my vintage Cry Baby) The LED lights up with a battery so it is not dead, but when I use my power supply the pedal works but the LED doesn't light up. Some searching says this might be because the original power supply for the CE3 was 12v then internal reduced to 9v. Sound right? I found a video (below starting at 4:06) saying if I remove D1 & R1 and jumper them it is running at 9v. Thought I would check here before I did anything.

Thank you for the replies.

I did some more searching. For reference this video has the exact process of removing and jumping D1 and R3 on a CE3, starting at 11:49:

But here's the Grey Bench guy adding a bridge (On a CE2):

And here's the adding a bridge at a different spot (On a CE3):

If there's no reason not to, I think I would just add a bridge than remove any parts. Does anyone have any opinions on that?

Buuuut, since I will have it open, I found these mods in Wampler's book, which I might try.
