Canis Distortion vs. Candid Drive

I was shocked when i looked at the Canis (I was a wolf in the Forest). Its quite identical to the wellknown Barber Direct Drives (Candid Drive). Did anybody check them out side by side?
I only see additional hard clipping diodes on the Candid. My plan now is to try some hardclippers on the Canis and check out what they do. Maybe i loose some volume?

While they are similar topologies, they are different circuits. The Candid has a different gain structure and hard clippers. The Canis has more EQ controls. Adding hard clippers will drop the overall volume of the circuit.

Yep, I noticed.

The "Wolf in the Forest" distortion is without a doubt based on the Direct Drive. There were jumpered pads for the toggle switch and I believe the soft clipping diodes were actually on the board, just not installed.

Just to add to the coincidence, the names are unintentionally similar and I verified both PCBs on the same day. I didn't notice their similarities until I began populating the second PCB..... "Wait a minute, didn't I just build this?" :ROFLMAO:
