Decided to build one of these cos I have a stash of salvaged RCA LM301AH from an eBay seller. Looks like they've been desoldered from some vintage equipment

It's a great sounding overdrive, the bass and treble controls are well designed and it has a nice growly midrange, some real attitude. Quite a lot of hair if you want it

I put a charge pump in this build. The 18v setting is louder, less compressed and brighter to my ears, though the brightness could just be the extra volume tricking my ears. The 18v setting would be better suited to an amp that is already out of headroom

Just waiting for some knobs now from Tayda. I ordered some brownish/oxblood ones to match livestock theme. They'd better be small cos I've put the labels a bit closer than I'd like

Someone on this forum mentioned 12v being the "optimum" voltage so I might knock something up with a 12v regulator, and maybe a switch for asymmetric clipping

Highly recommended if you're after something plexi-ish and have a funky single op amp to burn

Lookin' great so far.

Tayda's Davies 1900 clones should work...

Okey dokey. I though you wanted to keep the labelling visible:

You could check the data-sheets to see if they're big/small enough for your needs.

It all gets a bit wonky with hand drilling and waterslide decals. I had it lined up nicely in the software. i think the decals can shrink a little bit sometimes (but not all the time). I got into the habit of printing at 102% but then I had a couple that wouldn't fit on the enclosure face so I went back to 100%

I have some UV prints on the way from Tayda, hoping the results are more predicable. It's my first order so hopefully it comes out okay

Those work! Davies 1400s might give you a bit more clearance from the labels. I forgot about this drive circuit so will take a look. Great build!

Yeah, these look better than the 1900s for this build for sure.

My two favourite knobs, 1900 and 1510 — and I especially like the 1510 clones that are a wee bit smaller at 16.2mm diameter.

Are these little cow-pies the compacts?

Great build you have there.

Cow pats, cow pies, cow patties, cow-dip... it's all the same :poop:, just in different piles.

Those Tayda clones' diameter are 19mm at the bottom; the compact clones as mentioned are 16.2mm, so you'd have a BIT more clearance for the labels, but I think it looks great as is.

Edited for #-agreement

Tell you what, after a couple of mishaps I've quickly fallen into the habit of positioning things numerically in Diptrace and Illustrator like an adult. Let there be no doubt lol
