Chauffeur

Just finished a couple Chauffer’s and both turned out great. Haven’t had a chance to sit down with the actual Daily Driver but have watched plenty of demos on YT. What an amazing OD! I hate to use buzz words like “organic” and “transparent” but I’m not sure how else to describe this circuit. It sounds very similar to actual amp breakup. Gain knob is very useful from 1-10 and the circuit responds very well to guitars volume knob. High Cut switch is great -can’t decide if I prefer it on or off, both sound wonderful. Also the simple “Low” and “High” EQ knobs seem to really do the trick. I’ve used it with and without my Boss GE-7 in the loop and the pedal sounds great with or without.

Built as per build docs with two exceptions: used a 1n4742a in place of the 1n5242b as well as a 1n4733a instead of the 1n5231. Only reason for the two substitutes is that’s what I had.

Highly recommend the Chauffeur. Takes a bit longer to build than your typical OD circuit and has a ton of electrolytic caps but worth every second and every cap! :)

Hope everyone is well.

You're right, that IS a bunch of aluminum!
A great review, thank you! Knowing how the pedal plays with others is huge!
Nice clean build.

Thanks :) I could mention that one of these pushing another sounds great! Although that’d be a fairly large enclosure (especially for 8 knobs) to hold 2 Chauffeur’s. It does sound really, really good though.

Looking good! I’ve been struggling with knob choice on mine. Do you think these are too big? Lol

As long as you’re not turning the volume while you turn the low! Looks awesome!
These don’t touch each other, amazingly. The knobs only turn when you push the knobs down first. The top part is spring loaded. These are also very tall.

This build may well drive me to get a chauffeur...

@Bricksnbeatles — I recently tried to order a 54mm diameter knob, biggest one I could find; where the hell do you find a 70mm (diameter or tall?)?
Diameter. Rn I just have a 44mm knob for it, but I’m going to attempt making a 72mm one that matches the smaller knobs using my lathe (it’s got a sandblasted texture so that’s the challenge)
