Another fairly straightforward build from yesterday’s spree.
Again a special thanks to Ernie Ball and Chicago Music Exchange for the DIY pot insulator material. Obviously didn’t end up needing it on the volume control but oh well.
It sounds really good! I pretty much just made sure to swap in the “modded” components first to make sure I didn’t actually blaze past them with the “normal” stuff. I used BAT41s for the diodes. Don’t remember why, thought I remembered others saying they worked nicely, I dunno. I’m not too picky with diodes generally, maybe I just don’t have the ear for it lol. I thought about socketing them but honestly I’ve socketed probably 95% of the pedals I’ve built with diode clipping and have actually taken the type to swap/test different diodes maybe twice in my life. So they’re just straight on there.
It’s definitely got a much fuller low end. Again I’ve only been able to test with a guitar at the moment but I’m excited to give it a shot once my bass is back in action.
