A simple, straightforward build of the Chase Tone 'secret weapon' preamp. I had this really poor quality 1590B enclosure bought for a song, complete with dings near the DC jack, so deployed it to house the build. I have more boards on order and hope to do a more aesthetically pleasing job on its successors.
It's named after one of Pat Metheny's Grammy-winning albums. He remains one of my favourite guitarists, especially in collaboration with the sorely missed Charlie Haden (Beyond the Missouri Sky, Rejoicing, and so on).
It's a useful booster based on the 1970 Echoplex preamp, with quite subtle tonal variations adding some interest to a vanilla sound, as others have noted. Currently running it into the General Tso and still checking out various other boost options along the way. Thanks for reading as always and may all your builds rock!
