There is a section on omitted parts and those are listed on there. Seems like they were on the pedal that was traced and they were not doing anything.

I built one and just included those parts. I had them so I just threw in there. I figure it's only a few cents for the parts and solder. Plus imo it looks more uniform with them included.
But it's your call if you want to use up inventory on it.

I installed those parts on my build as well, but mainly because I built it using the solder mask and didn't check the BOM!
The Aion article says the parts were not connected on his board. If I were to build another one, I would omit them because I try to make the circuit exactly like the production unit

Another option:
SOCKETS
Try it both ways and if you like it with, solder the parts into the sockets.
If you dislike it, pull the parts out of the sockets and don't bother desoldering the sockets, leave 'em empty.

I’m also adding a 470k bleed resistor in parallel with the capacitor so when it’s turn on and off there will be no sounds
