What’s this? Nick is requesting a ring mod yet again?
You bet I am! I thought I had requested this in the past, but turns out I haven’t, so to the wishlist it must go!

The space ring is a pretty nifty little device. It’s pretty far out there, even as far as ring mods go! If you’re a fan of Wayne Coyne & co. then this is an essential pedal for you! It sounds like crap, but in a really good and fun way. It’s especially rad for synths!

DeadendFX has a PCB based on it (featuring a ton of really cool mods!) called the Wurmloch, but in typical DEFX fashion, the board is quite oversized and requires a 1590C enclosure. No hate— I love what DEFX does and I have dozens of their projects in my build queue pending the sourcing of obsolete parts, but… I’d like to be able to have my ring modulated cake and eat it too, in that I’d love for a board of the space ring (plus some of the mods ) to be available in a 125B sized package for more compact ringing!
PCBguitarmania actually has a 125B sized board of the space ring with all of the DEFX Wurmloch mods, and it’s apparently one of their boards that actually works without issue, but I’d rather not support them in any capacity since, well… need I say more?

Anyway, more ring mod is always good, and this is one that is particularly unique

and NOT the DEFX sized PCB (RIP?),
and even better if I don't have to order the Space Ring from "TDC" (That Darned Company)...

Once the PedalPCB version becomes available, the next hardest part will be naming mine.

You see, the rings of Saturn are
a) too obvious
b) too uninspired, mean c'mon! The seven main rings are labelled in the order they were discovered, but from the Saturn itself radiating outward they are D, C, B, A, F, G and E.

So I can't very well name my ring mod F-Ring or G-Ring. How boring.

The great-name quest continues...

I see @music6000 posted the pusherman link— I only know pusherman for eurorack group buys, so I wonder a) if the boards are condoned/licensed by DEFX, or b) if that’s a pusherman marketplace with those boards being fulfilled by Dino in the past, and they forgot to suspend those listings while he’s on hiatus, and c) if a) = true, then are Dino and Phil getting proceeds from the boards being sold?

I can't see Pusherman pushing boards that aren't from DEFX themselves, and openly advertising they're DEFX boards. I'm sure there would've been a stink about it if the boards weren't legit.

I'd think DEFX would have an arrangement with Pusherman for UK/Euro-area distribution similar to the way Musikding handles PPCB, Aion, GPCB, GCI, JMK, etc — obviously not kits, so... better example: how SynthBearSmallCube handles Parasit boards in the Americas.


Is it appropriate for Pusherman to continue to sell the DEFX boards while Digi2T and PMowdes have suspended sales?
I guess that depends on who you ask, but I'm sure that once Pusherman runs out of DEFX boards it'll be be d debee ba beee "That's All Folks" until DEFX is back up.


So, confession time: My DEFX boards from Pusherman arrived today. Fast shipping!
I panick-bought all the ones Pusherman had that I wanted, but Pusherman did not have all the DEFX boards I wanted.
I'll pick up the Ludwig thing and the Larry, hopefully, when Dino has recovered and DEFX is back up, and probably several others.

Thanks for the kind words about Dino, his surgery went well enough and he is recovering slowly. Thank heavens for the Canadian health service and the fact it is free.

Pusherman lives down the road from me in the UK and sells a selection of our pcbs with our blessing.

Our website will be back up soon i hope. In the mean time you lot better go out and buy some bigger pedal boards, mwahahahahaha!

I have a long list of boards to get once DEFX is back up and running. I’m still hoping for my Pusherman order to arrive— was expected on the 27th, but there hasn’t been an update since it arrived at a delivery depot once passing customs on the 20th of last month.
