Decided to start off my stack of Double Muffin boards with a couple circuits not included in the regular Muffin build doc - the Hizumitas (Shika) and Fuzz War (Bellum mkii)
Building the Shika side was easy, but adapting the Bellum to the board required a couple small hacks (the shrink-tubed bits). Both are built to their respective docs, with the only mod being the use of BAT46 in place of germanium on the Bellum side
Enclosure is a Bud CU452, same dimensions as a Big Box Rat, but in a thicker aluminum instead of steel. I think this is probably my cleanest punching and back-filling yet
(Space reserved for demo, when I'm feeling more inspired)
Not a huge fan of the Shika side- I find it a bit too thick and meaty, and possibly too smooth. It does sound good though, and I imagine it's quite a joy at volume. Decent range of thick low gain tones up to slab of sustaining elk meat.
Love the Fuzz War side- it's loud, clear, and seems to want to feedback. Stacks well going into or after a Rat. The tone control favors the high end while retaining a decent amount of bass through its sweep which I enjoy, but I can see why others might dislike it.
