Drilled a hole in the wrong place?

Just posted this on another thread but I thought it might be useful for anyone who has a hole to fill (insert joke here...)

I've used these things for holes in amp chassis I didn't drill and didn't need. They could be handy for guitars that someone drilled too many holes in, pedals, amps, neighbours and even small children.

I suggested metal epoxy for hole covering, but I fill my holes with bolting a washer and a nut there or just putting some aluminium tape for a cover.

Huh, they’re just tiny KO Seals (what you use to cover abandoned/accidental holes on electrical panels and boxes). 🤔

Genius, I never thought about aluminum tape. I have a whole freakin roll of that.

Aluminium tape has been the new ducktape for a while! At some point I even covered a plastic effects box completely with it for shitty shielding and looks. Neat finishing is overrated and who wants a boring pretty product when one could come unto possessing an uniquely deformed snowflake??? 😆

If the tape is covering it all with no holes, I think it would be fine for shielding? Although it probably isn't covering it nicely.

New idea for a shitty shielding and finish, aluminum foil and a thick-ish layer of epoxy.

Well the thickness of shielding material affects absorbtion, rejection and reflection properties on different wavelenght radiation. Thicker material is needed for ex. transformer induced EMI, but foil can be helpful for RF shielding. There’s a while when I looked into these so please straighten me if I remember this incorrectly! For effect boxes and guitar shielding foil is usually enough, but I wouldn’t trust shielding a spring tank with it.

Really?

I couldn't understand it when I was living in HK, expected it, but why bother? All I had to do was fire up the VPN and watch the vid.

What had/has the uploader got against Canada? Whatever it was/is, we're sorry.

I can't be bothered anymore to watch via VPN's, rarely worth the effort.
