Easy way to connect JFET adapter boards to PCB?

I've been trying to use the search engine but can't find a certain post that had a Tayda link to pins that were suggested for use with the JFET adapter boards. I built an M800 and realized that 2 or 3 of the J201s have super skinny pins from the ends clipped off resistors / caps. These don't fit snug into the socket and as a result are not likely conducting properly. I think I have a container somewhere with more of the clipped ends somewhere so can probably redo them with bigger pins. However, next time around I might want to try those pins that were suggested from Tayda.

I use the headers, but also do not socket. The pins might be too thick for socketing.

I have a small steel brush I use on pin headers before soldering. They seem to take the solder a bit better.

It probably would have made more sense to do that. My first pedal using J201s was just soldered direct. I think the sockets would have been good for the normal JFETs but the clipped leads can be a bit variable in diameter unless you sort them with a bit more attention. Not sure if it will be easier to pull the sockets or re do the pins on the adapter board.

I use pin headers as well. If the breakout board is in the way sometimes you can bend the pins so that they are perpendicular to the PCB:

I haven't tried these with SIP sockets yet but they work with leaf spring IC sockets, much better than the usual square pin type.

I have never thought of that! I have a new standard. Those pins hate solder. And they sink heat like crazy. Cheers!

Just solder them into the sockets

That sounds like the best solution rather than wasting time redoing leads or pulling sockets. Lesson learned for me. Might order a few of the different pins suggested here for next time.

These work great with SIP sockets.

There’s some expensive right angle versions of these that I’ve tried to find cheaper versions of to no avail. On Digikey you can filter male headers by contact shape, and the circular ones are them, pin diameter is .4mm vs .8-.9mm for rectangular headers.
