I bought this board a while ago as it's small and I wanted to see what kind of enclosure I could fit it in. This is what I came up with. I've built a lot of 1590G's in the past but they are kinda disappointing because they require side jacks and that makes them end up with a bigger footprint than a 1590b with top jacks. So I wanted to see if I could change that.
I used 9mm pots (my favorite) and this thin style PCB style jack I found on tayda. Squeezed between them is a lumberg 9v plug.
The PCB itself fit better if I put it closer to the jack. I trimmed 2 or 3 mm from the sides to get it to fit in the G enclosure. I kept the vol and gain controls on the PCB while I offboarded the tone control. But this pedal has four knobs! I tried out something I've wanted to do for a while - an external LED brightness control.
You may wonder how the back fits on with its perimeter flange interfering with the footswitch and audio jacks. It doesn't quite yet. I'll remove the flange at the top and bottom with my angle grinder tomorrow - I've done enough garage stuff for today. I tried out the pedal and it doesn't really sound like the Lovepedal Super Six, which it's supposed to be styled after. The tone control does almost nothing and the gain does not get into breakup like the Lovepedal version. I poked around a bit and found this page where two of the commenters echo this. It's kinda disappointing. It's a nice preamp/buffer but I have a compressor I like to use for that.
Anyway, here it is next to my Byzantium Flanger for a size comparison.
Is it cool? tbh I'm kinda disappointed in the sound of the circuit. I have a madbean Stutr I'm excited about and I wish I'd built that. But I have a couple other G enclosures that could go in.
