It was brought to my attention this weekend that I'm a terrible person. Should I rage quit? Should I burn out or fade away? I wanna know how much you dislike me me. Do I add any value to the community or am I trash? I'm standing on the ledge here, you helping me or shoving me? 🤣

You know how I feel.

1.) You have to have people with high build standards around so you have a benchmark of what is good.

2.) You have to have people that will bust your balls so you know when you are producing at a subpar level.

That's all there is to it.

If a person can't get past #2 and improve, they should hang it up for sure. Pretty much every improvement I've ever made in building was because you and Will mercilessly busted my balls. Shame is a great motivator.
So why haven't you hung it up yet?

Locrian99 getting upset that Buddy needs a thicker skin graft isn't cause for all this nor is Robert's superkneejerk reaction of half-ass removing posts. Remember that they asked for it, got it, and let it go on for quite some time before arbitrarily deciding some invisible line got crossed.

also worth noting we got here without any retard memes this time.

Superkneejerk reaction? It literally went on for days.

If any of you guys think what went on in that thread was warranted, asked for, or even remotely acceptable you're more than welcome to take a break.

Seriously guys, pardon my french, but what the fuck?

I thought I was inside the lines, didn't realize I stepped outside the lines. As far as I know I didn't see any egregious penalties. I thought I kept it above the belt. But I was told I'm a pathetic loser and a piece of shit. So I'm trying to navigate this tightrope over a wilderness of razor blades 😂

You looking for sarcastic or real talk? Too bad, you're getting real talk because I got three hours of sleep in a shite-arse hotel.

You're not a terrible person. I can't judge that because I don't know you from Adam. Sometimes ((a lot) you believe the internet. You believe that rules don't apply, and/or you take any inch you're given. You believe that everyone should take the same stance as you, and take it to the extreme.

But you know what? A whole of people love it when you take some things too far: your building things to the best that you (and let's be honest, a crap ton of people) can possibly do. It's immaculate. And you know what else? Little loved the tutorials you made, the knowledge you shared, it was a boon to this group who love to build.

But y'know, there's a shirt ton of stuff people don't like. And you don't care. There something admirable about the sentiment that you do what you do, and you don't take the crap people send you. it's when you pay it out in kind where it really isn't warranted that turns people off.

What you've done is you've made the latter your brand. and when you start to believe that's all there is, that really is all there is to be perceived.

I started to enjoy the phb, once you stopped pissing on the host for deining to create the contest in the first place, and we just started busting each other's balls, because that what we wanted by participating. That's what my meme was about: people quitting because the hating within the contest thing even exists. Other people perceive your hate as ", if you can't stand my "hate" no matter the place and context, you should quit, too."

At this point, if you're reading, you may not care, because you didn't want words to change you. Maybe you don't, maybe you do. And maybe you don't want your own words/memes to change other people. Maybe you think it's your attempt to give them thicker s skins.

But you care about something, otherwise why the heck even make this thread?

People like building. On one level or another they get some kind of joy/enjoyment and they feel like the hate is ruining it for them. Are they right, are they wrong? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You sure brought it to btr's initial thought gathering thread for reasons unknown to me, and when he (I can only suppose) threw you and the hater cohorts a bone by making light roast hate the point after you participate, and you seemed to double down on it simply to try to make it go away, simply because you thought you knew what was best for the forum, and that "best thing" according to you was for that thread to not have ever existed and everyone who wanted it to be a thing should feel bad. But who knows.

They don't hate you, they hate the excess of being an important shit you've chosen to be your online identity.

I don't know that I have any actual value here. IAIGF should have never happened and I have acknowledged that, many times over. My two regrets in life are IAIGF and not using a gun instead of taking the drugs. It's easier to pump a stomach than it is to put humpty Dumpty back together again. I love y'all in my weird way, I don't know how to show it. I don't even like building pedals. I guess I am who I am as you said.

No hate, but I'm definitely intimidated.

The IAIGF stuff isn't really my vibe, but maybe that's a me problem. I come from people full of suppressed passive aggressive rage, so part of my brain will always be stuck trying to figure out which jokes are really threats. A lot of it is funny, but reading it stresses me out.

At first glance the GOTA persona seems like a jerk, but he also gets a lot of respect. Is it just because he does really nice work? Is he just a bully and people are scared of him? Do I just not get the joke?

But then I notice some other things. Your genuine support and encouragement when someone is doing good work, some occasional vulnerable real-talk posts, the fact that you seem to know a lot of people's real names which tells me you're busy in the DMs providing something other than cocky disdain.

Trying to take all of that into my assessment, I guess you get a "Kinda not really".

Classic high status bully dynamic really - I simultaneously dislike you, desire your approval, and wish you would be my friend.

Dude. We don't hate you. And I'm going to be blunt because I know you can take it.
We all have some shit we need to deal with on some level or another and that includes you. Man up, find some help and allow/force yourself to be vulnerable for 1 hour a week for a while. It's going to suck. It's going to hurt. You're going to hate it. But you need to deal with your shit.

Dude, what the hell. Don't. Stop it. Your swing from this to that, I've been there. Still am. No one suffers identicallty, but ffs man get some help. I mean that with all sincerity. If what you're on isn't working, keep searching and working with someone until you find it.

It's never normal again, but what is "normal" anyway? But it can be better.

I don't really hate people.

I couldn't figure out what happened in that thread.
I think intentions were initially good, but then it didn't play out well.
Who is right, who's wrong... I dunno.
But I do know it kind of messed with the vibe of the forum.

I try to let my kids solve their own problems. But sometimes any action (big or small) causes an entire meltdown.
Then I'm left to deal with the fallout, usually in the middle of a bunch of other stuff going on.

I think the analogy is clear.
Let's not add another thing Robert needs to deal with.
