Hello- I haven’t been to the troubleshooting forum since my first build! I’ve been having successful builds until this one, lucky #17.
The Issue:
Fuzz works great, harmonies are not functional. When I first power the pedal on with no fuzz, I get some engine sputtering sounds for about 5-10 seconds before there’s no harmony sound at all.
What I’ve Tried:
I did a few searches in the forum and found similar issues. I reflowed the rotary switch, and replaced the tayda 4017 and 4046 with chips from mouser.
Unfortunately I ordered a 4042 from mouser instead of the 4024, so that one is still sourced from tayda.
I did try the one other 4024 I had. I actually got an octave sound coming out, but as soon as I turned the rotary switch, it stopped and no more harmony sound.
Maybe someone would have an idea if this seems more likely an IC issue, rotary issue, both, something else…
I was thinking of just putting on the shelf until I can try a 4024 from mouser, before I try pulling the pcb back out again.
