Fuzz face suddenly making strange noise

Hi,

I have two fuzz faces. One has germanium and the other silicon. They were both fine last week but have both suddenly started to make a clicking, static cracking, almost zapping popping noise. It’s hard to explain. a bit like when a phone gets that weird clicking interference noise. But worse. I’m baffled as to what’s causing it. Is it some kind of appliance interference? It’s strange how it’s just started to happen recently. Any ideas, guys?

Hi,
Their both replica fuzz faces that I’ve made using nos parts. The germanium has cv7007 and silicon as bc183lb there both running on 9v batteries and going straight into my orange amp. I’ve tried them both individually and both are making the same noise. The silicon one being the loudest. Not the cables as there both new and don’t have any problems with them when I’m plugged straight in the guitar to amp with both of them.

Yeah, I’m sure it must be some sort of appliance interference. Weird how it’s just started to happen from a couple of days ago??
If the upstairs hall light is on, or a vacuum cleaner is being run anywhere in the house, I can hear it through my amp. All depends on how the house is wired…
Yeah, I was able to listen to the radio through my silicon one the other day. It was playing jingle bells 🤣
