SOLVED Germanium Diode directionality?

Howdy all!
I'm super new here and have a maybe silly question. Is this germanium diode directional? and if so how do I know which way it wants to go in the circuit? gd.jpg

Yeah it’s directional..
The black stripes should mark the cathode (negative) side…
If you have a multimeter you can test and see which side is which…
But on all didoes I’ve seen, except Russian ones, the stipe(s) mark the cathode…
 
Yes, the russians are usually marked the opposite.
Best to check using a meter. Hook one up to a meter, when the diode conducts, the end where the black lead is on is the cathode (where the line is, not the triangle on the PCB).
