Good For DIY Speaker Cable?

That'll work, 2 conductor 13 awg, pretty beefy stuff.

Speaker cable for guitar amps will typically be like that, two relatively large conductors, or four smaller conductors in twisted pairs, unshielded. Two conductor cable is easy, tip and ring, make sure you use the same color on both sides. Four: just split up the pairs, use tip for one color and ring for the other.

Just be aware of your conductor size when buying plugs. Sometimes it can be a real PITA to fit those conductors into place for soldering.

The speaker cable I have attaching my head to my cabinet is a commercial cable, but I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between it and a lamp cord. I guess it's a little more rubbery? It's just two strands of unshielded 18ga wire with some jacks on either side.
