DEMO GOTA800-Hot Rodded JCM800 amp Build

This post contains an audio or video demo
This is sick dude. I have the Origin 20 and want to do this now
I would recommend it. Having played the stock origin amp this is much more fun and inspiring to play.

That's a great rock and roll sound!

All the guitars were straight into the amp, no effects (other than a little delay on the leads)?

Does that also mean no post-recording EQ as well?

How loud do you have to turn it up to get that tone?

Killer demo and yeah, once you go down the rabbit hole of tube amp distortion vs front end distortion things get too weird. I wish there was a magic answer but where would the pedal industry be then...

I'd dropped off the map with my 6505 and Blackstar explorations and using a compressor and/or booster out in front but after putting together a sanity inducing GuitarPCB Voodoo Redux build I've been seriously exploring using a drive and/or fuzz into whatever and working it. The classic dragon chase.

If I was doing bar gigs these days though I'd go your route with a comp out front and atmospherics in the loop and call it a day.

Thank you, it is a great sound! You are correct, no effects on the guitars other than light delay on the lead lines. To clarify further, I used my Gibson 335 for all of bonehead's parts and my Gibson Les Paul for all of Noel's parts. Guitar straight into the input.
No post EQ was used. I normalized the volume on the tracks and used a bus compressor and limiter on the main bus. That's it.

Now for the tone I'm getting, it's actually wound up a bit on the master. I feel that any 2203/04 doesn't start to come alive until at least 4 on the master. I run it at 6 normally, but I'm also using attenuation in the room and use my two notes captor/cab m+ with IRs. The gain is anywhere between 7-10 depending on the guitar and desired saturation.

Thanks Gordy, I've really deconstructed everything the last couple months and feel I'm able to do more with less. And I don't think that Marshall cleans get the props they deserve. Criminally underrated.

This is fucking rad. I’m staring at my Origin 5 now…

Glad to see you back, however briefly my dude. ✌️
Thanks dude, I think think it's multi faceted. I'm out of projects that either interest me or serve a purpose and I'm prioritizing playing and every other aspect of my life. I can always build something if there is a purpose or some bucket list item comes along.
What I've always liked about Marshall clean is that if you lean in a bit it gets a snotty attitude.
The seamless transition from full saturation to clean and everything in between is fantastic. The volume is more consistent as well. And it's not the scooped fender clean that's real vanilla, this has some chest hair on it. Clean but very rich in the mids with depth and character.
