CONTEST Guess the Secret Word !

CONTEST
Luck isn’t a requirement, but it is a symptom.

Or is it more like a rectangle/square issue— all lucky people are winners (you won the lottery of life?) but not all winners are lucky (you won kidney stones???).

@fig please explain if there is mutual exclusivity between being lucky and losing?

I'm not entirely sure how you knew about that, it's been a few weeks, but I suppose I was probably screaming loud enough that you could hear.

Oof! Lucky guess (on the topic of the philosophical intricacies of luck/winning), I suppose. Sorry to hear that! Hope that’s all behind you now!

Given a family history of them, kidney stones are one of my absolute biggest fears. Of course, I despise coffee, so as a full time student in need of chemical assistance in the “not passing out” dept, I’m a very big tea drinker— yikes!

Don’t trust them. I hear they sell bootleg pins and nitrous outside of phish shows!
In the worlds most cruel bout of irony, three hours ago I got home from a concert, went to bed and ten minutes later got a shooting pain in my bacK left side. Two hours in the hospital now, and yup… it’s Kidney Stones. F*ck!

I sure don’t feel like a winner

That is bizarre and terrible! I hope they pass quickly. Hang in there!
Thanks Tim! I swear, it’s gotta be some sort of bad voodoo or something. Only 8 hours after making a joke about “winning kidney stones” and then saying how I hope to never have them, I have an acute kidney stone situation out of the blue. Not like I had symptoms prior, or like I talk about kidney stones often (I’m pretty sure that’s the only time I’ve ever mentioned kidney stones in any context) so the level of synchronicity is enough to spook Sting himself.

Well now I’m worried I might get them again!

Oh man I am so sorry to hear that. I should have warned you I'm cursed!

On the bright side.... no... no there is no bright side. Hopefully it'll all pass soon. 😫

When the doctor told me that the one I had was between 7 - 9mm I immediately imagined trying to pee a 5mm LED...

This is going to be a problem "logistically" if ya know what I mean. Not sure I'm quite man enough for such activities!

Thankfully it eventually broke up on it's own and ended rather uneventfully.

Free Kidney Stones — yeesh, I'd give them a pass.

7 x 9mm Gah, the size of that man's stones!

I best not joke about it anymore, look what happened to Bricksnbeatles.
Would it help it pass if one got another kind of really stoned?

Hey, Bricks, hope you have a speedy safe riddance of said stones.

My dad had one that was 17mm. Obviously had to get that one broken up.

Mine is only 3mm, but my immediate thought was peeing out a 3mm led, and I was horrified.

I have an 8 page research paper due Wednesday, an ASL final on Thursday to study for, and a bunch of homework assignments to do before Thursday. Planned on cramming today and tomorrow, but uh… now I’m doped up and stuck in bed drinking more water than an orca.

If it helps your nerves at all, at least in my case (both times) actually passing the stone was painless... in fact if I hadn't been looking I wouldn't have known it happened at all.

The strange thing to me is the pain is nothing like I imagined it would be. Both times I wasn't entirely sure that's what was going on.

My first one was right at the start of the pandemic so I held off going to the doctor as long as possible.... I was down for almost a week.

My second one hit just a few weeks ago... My wife immediately called and made a doctors appointment. I passed it while giving them the urine sample when I got there. That was probably the most I've ever paid to just use a restroom.
