Informant

Lately I've been doing the modeling thing with an HX Stomp. I also have a Zoom G1 Four as a cheap backup in case I have issues at a gig and need a quick solution. In building the board for the Zoom, I decided to try out the Informant / 1981 Inventions DRV Overdrive pedal. The Zoom only has enough DSP for 5 blocks, so using an external overdrive and reverb help a lot. And oh man, I am loving this pedal. Never really been a Rat fan except on the lowest gain settings. But this thing is wonderful as a boost, overdrive, and as a distortion. Can't say enough about it.

I would use it with amp/cab emulation if my HX Stomp dies at a gig where I was going direct or using an FRFR. But I have also taken to bringing this board to the weekly blues jam, and just using the Zoom for basic effects (Noise Gate, EQ, Delay and Clean Boost) while using a real amp.

If you've been considering building the Informant, I whole-heartedly recommend it.
