Little known fact...


Stick McGhee was an electronics buff and was developing his own diodes.
One night he drank some of his chemical mix for diodes, mistakenly thinking it was his cocktail...

The resultant buzz prompted the song

"Drinking Wine Spodie Diode-ee".

The record-label made him change the lyrics/title, knowing the masses could relate to wine, but not the spodie-diode-ees.

Incidentally, McGhee's home-tinkered diodes had a fV drop of .279

Man, I've been on the hunt for some long out of production. 1N999s for a few years. Nothing special about them, basic same specs as 4148s, etc. But, the NJSemi ones are labeled
1N
999
So, if you invert them, you'll have a diode that reads 666. Idea being I use one with a red led as asym hard clippers with a little window to see the illuminated "666" when playing. Dumb idea but I'm a mere simpleton, but not to divagate...
I found that NJSemi has stock and sent in RFQ with some other SKUs. Well, their quote reply:
