Is this a unique design or is it a copy of something well known - can anyone here tell just from the pictures?

I think it’s a copy of a Vox AC30 preamp with top boost but I’m not 100% sure.

Yeah that whole article is AI blabber. This is undoubtedly similar to the multitude of AC-30 TB preamps before it, this time with an unnecessary transformer…but it’s mil spec!!!! Because guitar pedals run within the same stressful operating environments as military equipment! BUY IT

Hey I only use the higher spec'd LM208's in my builds! No commoner LM308's here! Who knows, maybe you need to play at -20 degrees celsius! Or +75! Your stupid pedals will fail while mine still works perfectly!

...mainly because I couldn't find any DIP-8 LM308's and I found some 208's but still.
