Just one more.......(More Strat-o-tomfoolery) 7-4-23 Update

That's pretty much my "retirement guitar" except mine is Red cedar with IRW, and it has the "finger picking" width and scale. It was not custom, I had gone down to a store in Santa Cruz that had a large selection of Lowdens and several Goodall's, (along with many many crazy fine guitars, but I was pretty specific in what I wanted, and limited it to those two Luthiers). I fully expected to leave with one of two different Lowdens, and they were both fantastic, but I kept going back to that Goodall. My only complaint is how big it is, but that's also why it sounds that way. It's sitting out, about 8 feet from me, as I type.

(editted to add: He now uses the fret material that is slightly goldish (not quite as hard as stainless, but does not have the slight ping that stainless does. I don't mind that ping (too much ;~( ) on electrics, but it would be a complete killjoy on an acoustic like his.)

I've since been to fort Bragg a few times (camping along that part of the coast) and have stopped in to visit.

Ok, got the color coats on and the first few coats of clear.

Man, not having a proper spray booth is a royal pain. I'm remembering why I avoid shooting nitro home paint jobs.

Anyway, I got a black guard for it but now I'm debating how "Gilmour" I want to make this. I'm pretty sure his black strat ended up with a single ply acrylic guard. Not sure where I can get an 11 hole thick single ply guard without going custom.

I think I'm just going to go with the 3 ply guard.

I also have a set of cream pickup covers and pots, debating if I want to stick with Cream or go Parchment on this guitar.

Thoughts?

One step forward, two steps back.

I borked the first couple of coats of clear nitro. Had to strip it all back and start over at the primer....sigh.

Florida summers are horrible for spraying nitro. I probably should sit on this until winter. But that would require patience..........something that seems to be missing in my DNA......heh.

I'm going to rattle can the black again but then maybe try an airbrush for the clear coats.

Ok, I'm at a total roadblock. I cannot spray my clear coats without major blushing from the humidity here right now.
Sigh.
Letting my latest butchered coat dry before sanding it back.

I've tried rattle cans and I've also tried thinned lacquer through an airbrush. It's just too damn humid here in Florida right now.

This project may have to get mothballed till winter. Which doesn't sit well with me but it is what it is.

BUT I've got a neck ready, pickups, hardware, ugh........

Dehumidifier is your best friend!

When you're ready, I'll help you. I can give you some hands on lessons on fret work and set up. You can split the difference and get a Tele-Master. Jazzy with Tele pickup setup.
Woah how come I didn’t think of that! Oh man this is getting me pretty amped! Mike I’m definitely going to be asking for help when the time comes. Fret work I’ve been reading isn’t as bad as it seems but I’m still pretty dang nervous about it!

Jazzmaster with Tele pickups….man that sounds amazing to me 😎

Make a tele and a jazzmaster. Simples
But which first? After all these recent endeavors into screen printing my wallet is going to combust :ROFLMAO:

So there has to be one for now. Eventually i will do both! Im liking what @MichaelW suggested getting a Jazzmaster body with the Tele pickups that sounds pretty cool. I do like the Tele sound a bit more than the Jazzmaster but im all in for the style of the Jazzmaster....
