I am going to build it tonight. I don't have the Zener Diode on hand. I assume that is just a protection diode? Could I use a 4001, or just jump it if I'm not worried about it getting above 9v power?

Also, I find the volume on Klonish circuit to come on very fast with the B10k volume pot. Any reason I couldn't use an A10k pot for the volume to try to get unity closer to noon?

For clipping diodes I have on hand D9E, 1n34a, 1N4148. What say you?

I think you could leave the Zener off for testing the circuit. The Zener is there to protect your charge pump chip if you accidentally plugged in more than 9v. So, Be sure never to apply more than 9v. I’d order it so you can add it in eventually. Do not replace with 1n4001, that would not serve the same purpose. DO NOT jump it, that would short your power to ground.

10kA for the volume is no problem.

for the diodes I’d recommend installing sockets so you can easily try out different types and see what you prefer. D9E or 1n34a would likely be closest to the klon, but who knows what you’ll like.
