SOLVED LabRat not working

Just finished a Labrat build. Using a CioksDC7 at 12v. The bypass works as I can hear my bass guitar perfectly normal when the pedal is not engaged. When it is engaged, I have to turn the volume and the gain all the way up to barely be able to even hear my bass guitar. Suggestions?

How's the current rating of the lab rat handle thirstier toobs?
Oops.

The plate voltage might sag a little with thirstier tubes, but it shouldn't really be a huge issue.

If you're looking to get less distortion out of Lab Rat though a more effective option would be to drop the value of the gain pot. I personally like how an A50k works in here. Cranked 100% still gets you a very good amount of drive, but you have a lot more mid-gain options in the lower spots on the dial.

The tube comes at the very end of the circuit on Lab Rat, so the tube will only distort to the extent that it's pushed by the op-amp. The majority of the distortion is still coming from the op-amp, which is why it still inherently "feels" like a Rat.

I’ll order an A50 and try a 5751, 12ay7 and 12au7 while I’m waiting for it to arrive. Thanks for your reply

You could also try throwing a 100k resistor in parallel with the A100k pot in the meantime. It will affect the taper so it won't be exactly the same thing, but it will give you an idea of the max gain setting with a 50k pot and get you some good mid-gain settings in the sweep.

Added a 100k resistor in parallel. Swapped for a 12ay7. Sounds about where I want it. I’ve got an A50k ordered. Thanks to all!
