There’s been a few build reports on this circuit already. I wouldn’t have known about this one if not for the awesome comparing demo @Guardians of the analog did in his. And I’m very glad I saw that.
It really is a great sounding chorus pedal, if I had one complaint it might be that it’s a little bit on the bright side to me at least with a strat I haven’t tried with my LP yet. But switch over to the neck position or back off the tone knob a little bit and it was stellar. The vibrato functions are great the pure wet one is pure wobbly fun.
Part sourcing was a little annoying I ended up ordering from four different vendors for the bits I didn’t have on hand (one of them was mainly for the knobs though). I had to order from mouser for the cd4011be (always scares me I’m going to get the wrong thing). But it all came together and they weren’t hard to find.
For the enclosure I did something new for me. I went all glittery, I don’t know why but I was at the hardware store and spotted some glitter paint. First go round I put some primer on it and the. Just used the glitter paint, didn’t love it. Stripped it, primer a blue called Maui blue and then just a quick light spray with the glitter, and I was very happy with it. It doesn’t show up quite as well in the pics as it does in person. And those are the aluminum knobs from love my switches.
I do wish I would’ve left off the rate led, I find them to be somewhat annoying why I never just leave them off I don’t know . It’s also fairly subtle compared to my Caesar. Also with these blue led’s I should’ve upped the clr a bit.
Building process seemed a little daunting at first, first time using 1/8w resistors don’t love soldering those tiny little leads. But it all worked out. Fired right up and barely had to move the trimmers at all for biasing, though I might mess with it a bit more.
Overall I’d highly recommend checking this out if you are a chorus fan.
