LED causing oscillation in my SL Drive clone

So I etched my own board for SL Drive clone. Works great but alas the dreaded oscillation squeal if I increase gain above 50 percent. No squeal when guitar is playing but present when there is no guitar signal. The LED is right in between the 2 jacks and if I move it out of the box no squeal. Is there a way to shield it or do I need to move it entirely? Also do I need to have separate grounds for my signal and power? @Chuck D. Bones you mentioned this in a post from a while back about separate grounds for IN return and OUT return but I have no idea how to do that or even what that is?

I doubt it's actually the LED itself causing the issue.

Yes. Yeah I don't think it's the LED itself. But the 9v wire comes right off the dc jack to CLR resistor to the LED so the power wire is almost lying on the input and output jacks

Scratch that. Not the LED. This is driving me nuts. Sounds great until you turn up the gain past 12

It's more likely proximity between the input/output jacks and the PCB or pots.

Can you post a picture of your build?
