Well here's an interesting product with pedal potential, silicone tubing illuminated by LED that can be bent into shape to mimic a neon light. 12v but powered by 2 AA, so it must have a buck up in the controller that comes with it. hmmmm......

This pops up every now and then on my aliexpress. I’ve seen uses in person of either it or something similar that I thought were terrible and some alright. I think if you use it in a way that doesn’t imitate neon it could work well. There’s a smaller size thats used in LED edison style bulbs that I think would play nicer with pedal scale

I used to use this on occasion in models and displays. In the dark, it’s very cool—sometimes I’ll see bikes at night that have it woven into the wheels. In a lit room, it’s hard to see (That it’s glowing). From memory, it comes in 2mm and 5mm. What I am familiar with did not use LEDs, rather the entire wire glows evenly. It’s based on the same technology as lumescent panels (another very cool product) and doesn’t run on DC—it’s powered by DC but is converted to a high frequency AC; one of the issues we had using it at times was the audible whine that the converters make. It was marketed as “glow wire” probably 15 years ago or so.
