One Leprechaun aka Rainbowmachine aka “Donna Martin Graduates”. Made this for a guy in a band with the same name . Before saying I could easily build it I wasn’t aware of the FV-1 being surface mount. Quite a scary endeavour. Doesn’t look too pretty with that particular soldering… also forgot a cap and didn’t notice until everything was boxed but it worked at first try. This is one crazy pedal

Would it actually damage the chip if I did or would it just not work?

Depends on the chip, tbh. I'm not terribly familiar with the fv-1, but I would say with a digital chip it would just not work if something catastrophic had happened, e.g. over voltage. A solder bridge may just prevent it from operating properly until it's resolved.

It looks like vref is 3v3 so as long as you're not sending more than that—i.e. supply voltage (9v/12v/18v) had found its way there. Only times so far I've had a digital chip fail was my first foray into circuit bending, and a borked magecho, both did e to over-voltage.
