Looper help

Does anyone around these parts have any experience with looper pedals? I am currently monkeying around with a tc ditto and it is nice for what it is but I am looking to get one of the more filled out loopers. I would really like something to have a drum beat type thing and maybe even record the loops.

I am eyeing the Boss RC-10r but have never dived into the crazy world of loopers.

Any recommendations or ideas or think its a bad idea?!?

I have been working on bass pedal demos and it just isn’t the same without a drummer, I need that backbeat baby.

I have only ever used the jamman solo and the EHX 360. The jamman had some canned drum loops in it, but they were pretty chintzy. There are options like the Beatbuddy or a standalone drum machine like a Volca beats, but I do not have experience with either.

I used to have a trio+ that I liked but I replaced it with a digitech sdrum and a jamman solo xt which synch together. The sdrum let's you tap in your own kick and snare patterns and adds cymbal pattern choices to your construction

I used the digitech stereo jam man for a while. I liked it, but I couldn’t justify having that many features. Now I have the tc ditto and miss all the features I used to have

How about a band in a box with a looper?

I totally forgot about this box! I gotta check it out

Now this sounds cool! I gotta dig into this.

Thats the rub with the ditto, you think its perfect then you realize its short comings

thank you all, lets hear some more suggestions. Also @jimilee i am loving the avatar pic

I found mine in the bottom of a box of pedals, yesterday. I forgot all about it.

justify? We don’t do this cause we can justify anything. 🤣🤣🤣

I have a boss rc-50 and I love it. Strictly for home use because it's huge. I don't know the difference between it and the rc-300 but if I were in the market again I'd look for something equally overkill. Playing to a drum vs a click is worth it to me and beyond that being able to quickly layer 3 parts and solo over them has kept me entertained for literally thousands of hours at this point. Never had an issue with it. Highly recommended but I can see why it wouldn't appeal to everyone.

I've got the BeatBuddy and would like to pair it with the same company Singular Sound's looper, whatever it's called. Oh yeah...

That or pick up a used Pigtronix Looper. It used to be the shizzle, IMO, 'til the Aeros was released

The Boomerang was best overall for my needs wants, but the size is big (not a problem anymore for me) and it's still lacking any sort of memory storage or loop-loading capability (again, not a problem for me) — size and no loops stored may be a turn off for many. Here's the Boomerang with accessories the Sidecar and Wholly Roller:

I had a Zoom BNX1 or whatever that had a looper in it, but I just don't get along with pedals that have sub-menus, just can't be bothered; so here's what I eventually finally got used (recently) for the test bench:

Of course, that last bit about my new-to-me Ammoon doesn't help you at all, but maybe the first 3 suggestions have merit.

I have had an Rc-10r for quite some time. It will take some time to figure it out and customize it. The MIDI controls are helpful and really expand the control of the device. The drum beats have good variety, but you will likely want more. I have learned that I can download songs and tracks into the device to practice. It is a nice feature. If you have specific questions, feel free to ask away. Cheers.

You just opened the can of Surströmming. Can you play a drum beat and record a part and then play a different drum beat with a different part and loop them. All I really want to do is a little backup and be able to go between two parts. THe trio I have been tinkering around with is cool because you can have that backing band thing and I can run it out to my console while I film but I still have yet to figure out how to then record my parts to play over them.

Listen to me complain about the most inane thing in the world. Boohoo I cant figure out this fancy shit I have. entitled.

Hey Dan, If you are interested in the Trio, I have one that I'd be willing to trade or sell you on the cheap. Bought it a few years back and used it only a handful of times. PM me.

If you get Bio77's Trio (or any Trio)... Here's some extra control you might be interested in for it:

The Digitech extra $witches...

"Get all the same functionality as the FS3X foot switch, popular for adding tons of extra functionality to the Digitech Trio+ looper pedal... but also, and most importantly, gain the ability to truly and completely bypass the Trio+ in your signal chain when you aren't teaching it new songs." — Mark, MAS Effects

There are two tracks for each "phrase memory" and there are two, related drum arrangements for the phrase memory. I can image that you could download and record one drum beat or song backing on "track one" and then record a second arrangement for "track two." This possibility might allow for track one to be a verse and track two to be the chorus, etc. I haven't verified this, but I think it can be done.

To record an arrangement or song to the rc-10, I connect my iphone to iRig2 and connect the iRig2 to the rc-10. I play the song as the first loop. Next, I can add my personal layers to the song, etc. You can save your arrangements, and I believe that you can download the track to your computer and edit (not verified). If you are really interested, I would suggest looking through the manual prior to buying it. I think you could find some good deals on Reverb.

I think there is some degradation of the sound quality with this method, but it works well for me. I am just a bedroom player with headphones.

I don't think the device is intuitive, but with time, enjoyable. It is certainly more enjoyable than any experience with Surströmming (had to look it up. For those who are curious, it is fermented herring)!

I still find the DL4 to be the best looper. The MKii is fantastic. If you’re at a computer anyway, it’s no big deal to send a drum pattern from your DAW to it. Also then you’ll have a DL-4. 😎

So I think the Trio Plus is what I am looking for! I got the Trio regular and i need the extra features. That MAS effects looks really cool and seems like a necessity for what I want to do.

That
Sounds
Awesome
