Modded gray channel clone

I was screwing around on the breadboard recently with the mxr distortion + and decided I wanted to actually build one. As this is probably the 5-6th time ive breadboarded it for various reasons. I played around with a bunch of stuff and really liked the gray channel values sound. But wanted a tone control. So i tried a few different tone controls and particularly liked the mark hammers incredibly wonderful tone control for it that over on amz.

Then i decided an order switcher would be cool (and it does make a difference). And i wanted a master bypass footswitch.

Made up a schem and layout and ordered the boards.

Made my own paper drill template with a paper and a ruler (why i didnt just do it inkscape is a decision ill regret. Guess im making a faceplate as i made my initial switch hole in the wrong spot forgetting it was offset from the top knobs not in line (see pic.). And i shouldve had my jacks a bit lower, but was able to make it work.

Changes i would make if i did it again.

Probably go landscape, i went portrait for the layout for a cheaper pcb and to take up less board real estate. While i think the footswitches are far enough apart, the knobs and switches seem pretty cramped knob choice is very limited.

Not sure why i didn’t orient the order switch sideways, so the switch being on redside turned on red side. As opposed to up/down.

Leds work so all are off when the master is off (blue being master). I did this by hooking the led cathode of the blue led to the footswitch ground hole for the red and green leds. This seems to work fine other than if both green and are bypassed the blue led is just super dim but still on.

Overall the pedal sounds great and none of the issues are deal breakers as its just for me anyways.

Looks great. 1 thought about the stomps. You can lower the outer 2 as low as you can go and raise the middle.
