Modifying resistors on the board

Has anyone here ever soldered another resistor to one already in place?

I'd like to modify one value without taking it out of the box. In my mind I can simply solder another one on in parallel to lower the value, but it has the potential to go wrong

Thoughts?

I do it all the time when prototyping. Just add a little more solder than normal to each end of the resistor that's already in the board, then you can fairly easily tack another one across it in parallel.

I do it, too.

I'm mathphobic, so I use this online calc:

I'm also lazy. It's actually a pretty easy formula to calc:

Handy for calculating series capacitors, too.
