I may be out of my depth here but would it make sense to use an 8 Pins double N channel instead of a bulky CD4007? like an IRF7342?
I see that the VSS of the CD4007 is connected to Vref but how does it matter in this circuit?

Hey there! I based my component selection on the original project. I'm sure that substitutions could be made, but the IC you reference is a P-Channel rather than the N-Channel pair that is used in the circuit. Additionally, I believe the original circuit designer, Dylan159, chose common parts that are available in through-hole format.

Nothing's stopping you from designing your own version of this circuit, it's licensed under a CC license.

Oops, correct I meant IRF7380 or else. Ok ok, makes sense I will try out
