This thing is great. In my band I’ve been using a vintage Rat reissue that a country player I gigged with gave me back in the day.
I was initially concerned about finding a real 308 because that’s what’s on the BOM and my own Rat has a LM308.
I decided to trust the first reviewer- they used a TL071. This turned out to be a great choice.
I A/B tested the with my Rat, and it was definitely close enough that I didn’t mind. In fact, I had think this actually sounds a little better. The noise floor is lower and the filter seems to have more usable range.
So it’s replacing my giant Rat and it’s the firdt build that made a home on my pedalboard.
I put the drill template on slightly off-center, but that’s ok. I also apparently put the LED in wrong too. That’s also ok- my other rat doesn’t even have an LED!
