Muzzle: super-hot IC

I finally sourced what I believe to be a legit THAT4301P for my Muzzle Classic, and finished putting it all together this evening. I hooked it up with just the main input/output (I built passthrough but didn't try it yet), and although the LED powers on I'm getting no signal when the pedal is engaged.

I'm going to run through the usual troubleshooting steps tomorrow, but I did notice that the THAT4301 got crazy hot when the pedal was plugged in (so much so that I'm worried I've fried one of the last 4301s on earth, lol). I was wondering if that's normal, or if it would lead anyone to suspect an obvious culprit for the circuit not working?

I can come back with pin voltages, but frankly I'm scared to plug it in again!

Thanks! I will definitely check the component values when I start crawling over it tomorrow. Resistors are a bit of a nightmare because I’m partially color blind, but I’ll manage. Attached a couple of photos.

I think your THAT is in upside down.
Yep, you nailed it! I feel like such a fool. Flipped it and now signal passes when it's engaged, and turning the knob seems to activate the gate. Need to experiment with the sidechain next. Also, the LED doesn't seem to be behaving as it should, but I've seen some threads on here about that issue so will try what I've read there.

Thanks to everyone!

No longer bursting into flames?

You might consider changing all the jacks out to the stereo switching jacks That pedal can be a grounding nightmare with those mono jacks at least with the side chain in my experience.

China, so still not sure if they're legit. Nothing to test them with as the THD is 20pin, the SMD 30pin and thus I haven't been able to find the appropriate adapter PCB.
This particular one isn’t for the right package size, but you could get this kind of socket for the SMD chip and wire it up on perfboard to header pins in a DIP 20-pin arrangement. It would be bulky, but it’s an easy, no solder method of testing them. That’s what I’ve done in the past to test certain smd chips that I had a short supply of. https://www.amazon.com/SOP20-Programming-Socket-300mil-Adapter/dp/B0779W325Z

I hope whoever grabbed it (I’m presuming because they saw this thread) gets their Muzzle working!
Thank you again for the link, my thumb's up to your post/link was meant as thanks and the "It's sold" in my post was self referencing.

The "oh well" was me realising immediately after hitting the paypal button that I could've just ordered another Muzzle (non-classic) for a LOT cheaper (they're even on sale right now). I hate waste though — no point in having the Classic sitting around gathering dust.

@Bricksnbeatles Thanks for the tester idea. I'm having everything shipped to Canada as my move there is imminent now. If you haven't found one by the time I get reset in the GWN (what's another couple months?), and they test well, I'll shoot one to you.

@Paradox916 Yup, I didn't hesitate once I saw the OP's wasn't fried and the link was given.
I'd go with the Movie meme... no, not the Brad Pittiful one, this one:
Some areas of Asia, purse-snatching motorcyclists are so bad they have public signage warnings (never seen such signs in HK though).

Instead of the movie meme though...
What with the Olympics and all:
...Clean and jerk.

Question about the stereo jacks you recommended: I've got some (really crappy) switching jacks, not stereo, but switched mono — Workable? I've got some stereo jacks if absolutely necessary.
