Guitar Acquisition Syndrome. Mine has been in complete overdrive since I asked for a reservation for this RIC which of course is out of stock and "will be coming soon"

aaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh soon when? 😧

I've already taken the money out of the 401k, it's just setting there waiting to be transferred. Including the 10.5% sales tax, this comes out to about $1760. Burning a hole in my proverbial virtual pocket......

Yesterday I saw a very favorable review of the 40th anniversary Squier Jazzmaster by Mike Adams and I found one in seafoam green at a good discount.
My plan was to order a custom JM from the guy I got my nitro P bass from. I want a rosewood fretboard with a 7.25 radius and nitro paint in firemist gold with a gold anodized PG.
But that will cost at least 3x what this Squier costs and I know prices are only gonna go up. I know a Squier JM is going to require an extensive setup and probably some new parts but its 1850 zloty versus 5000.

The one thing stopping me is that this JM has a maple fretboard, which means I won;t be able to roll the edges because of the finish.

Mmh...

That was one of the first guitars that I wanted as a kid. When you get it, I would love to see a picture. Enjoy!

My dad bought me the Rick 420 (the Beatles, single pickup) guitar when I was 11 in 1967 (still have it). I have since accumulated 20+ other guitars, and have decided to purchase a few more RICS (now that my 401k is unlocked). This is the first, but I'm thinking a Rose Morris and a 325 12 string will be in there too. But not for at least another year. And I'm thinking of selling a few of my others, there's a tele with a bigsby and a 12 string MIJ strat that I never play at all.... being retired is cool, except for the arthritis!

Oh, the 12 string Rick….that is something special. Never played one, but love the sound and look. I will vicariously through you. Glad retirement is good to you. Try some diclofenac gel (OTC) for the arthritis and you might be set for the perfect retirement. 🤣
