My new Marshall JMP

Forever I've wanted a metal panel marshall for my 1960AHW cab with those G12h30-55Hz(greenback(Heritage Series )not anniversery) celestions. My neighbor and friend showed me this one on Reverb and it was local(Seattle). Went up there and played it. Awesome Amp, out of my price range a little but man this thing sings! we headed back to Tacoma. I was sort of feeling like a junkie with that Marshall head, but oh well.
3 days later my neighbor(who is also a Marshall guy) said "man, you deserve that amp. How about I go pick it up and ill spot you the difference?" This day and age, someone really cares about someone besides themselves? Kinda tripped me out...Needless to say I now own it 1976 Model#1964 "Lead&Bass". Someone pointed out its a "Rosemary" which from my understanding she was quailty control back then and somewhat of a hardass. Long story short, just wanted to post a couple pictures. And thanks Pat! its been a rough couple years since Erin died, I appreciate you!

Dude, Neighbors like that rock.
Crank that bad boy up and let it sing.

Gotta love a JMP. Those Daly caps do seem to last a long time, but don't be afraid to change them if necessary. They're nearly 50 years old!
Yeah. No joke! i'm very surprised how long they lasted! I bought it to play it forsure, so I was thinking about this weekend doing the caps on it, your the 4th person to point that out so i'm gonna just go ahead and do them! Any other suggestions? the shop I bought it from had a tech replace the power cord and a few resistors were replaced. hopefully all it will need for a while is the filter caps. Thanks

Always a good idea to test the diodes while you're in there. Bias and rectifier. If it's tube rectified it's a good idea to add backup diodes, 'cuz if the tube shorts A/C goes into the polarized caps in the power and preamp sections and BANG, it's major cleanup and overhaul time.

@RetiredUnit1 Thank you! I just now saw your reponse. Its not tube. But I will definitly store that bit of information for the future!

Any of the electrolytics. Me? I would just replace all the electrolytics as a matter of course. Psionic Audio recently(ish) did a video on his overhaul of an older Marshall. He has good suggestions for replacement caps. I would probably go for F+T for the filters and maybe the blue Vishays for board mounted electrolytics. He also has some very good ideas regarding grounding which I would recommend looking at. I always measure all the resistors especially those in the B+ as they have a lot of voltage crossing them. Mechanical things like jacks and pots sometimes need replacing if worn.

Psionic Audio has great content! did my buddies fender hot rod d caps with a little help from him. Thank you! I will start browsing his channel. Is there a sorce you might have for schamatixcs for that amp I have? 76 Model 1964. I want to see every and all differences between that and a 1987 86

Modded and recapped my hot rod, removed the bright cap on my deluxe and cooled the bias on my jr. I didn’t have any of those until I started watching his channel, so be careful.

Try here for schematics: https://el34world.com/charts/Schematics/files/Marshall/Marshall_Schematics.htm

If that doesn’t work, I’ll have to scrounge for other spots

Beautiful amp! Such a great story! Two questions;

1. What does the pedalboard look like with it?

2. Is that a gp-38 in your profile pic?
That is at our switch/round house yard, its one of the RCL units in our fleet. If I recall its a gp39 dash 2? 3? Dont quote me on that, do you work for the railroad?
The pedals i'm using curently? To be honest, i'm a simple man. Tuner, 70's thomas organ wah($89 guitar center special), Fuzz(sandspur ppcb), waza blues driver, Uni-vibe, and ive been trying different reverb pedals out. So far everything i've tried gives me too many options, or sounds to digital. Looking at a holy grail to try next!
