Nein Fuzz audio signal disappears at the final cap...Why?!

Hey all,

I've built the Nein Fuzz, but I'm getting no output signal.

Tracing the audio signal, everything seems to be working fine until the final capacitor (C9/1u, the fat red Wima on the right of the circuit board) where I get no signal.

I get sound out of Q4 (3904), which (unless I'm worse at reading schematics than I think I am) then goes to R9 (1K to ground) and C9 and then straight into the vol. pot.

But nothing happens at C9, so no sound reaches the Volume pot.

I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. I feel I've ID'd the problem, but I don't know how to fix it.
I've checked/changed the cap, but no difference; I tried tracing the signal without the cap soldered in place just for funzies. Nope...Nothing.


Any help/suggestions are much appreciated.

Broken trace? What happens if you tack a wire from pin 1 of Q4 to pin 3 of the volume pot?

You could also use your multi meter in continuity mode to check connects

Just so I understand, you have audio on the emitter of Q4, but not on either side of C9?

Just to condi4m, you have signal at pin 1 and 2 of the 3904?

Broken trace? What happens if you tack a wire from pin 1 of Q4 to pin 3 of the volume pot?

If you do this, monitor the output with your audio probe, not out jack to amp. There will be DC on the output.

Yes, I get sound from pins 1&2 of the 3904, but nothing from C9.
Ill try the tack wire & I forgot to check continuity, so I'll do that too!

This resistor (R14) should be 470K, it looks like you might have 470R installed there.
