Nein fuzz

I'm not a big fuzz guy. I like fuzz but more in the sense of specific context and usually when other people use it. Also I use a gained up Marshall master volume amp with humbuckers so fuzz usually sounds like shit. Also I use a buffer at the front of my board so a fuzz that can work after a buffer is a must.

So those who have built the nein fuzz, will it work for me? Is it good behind a buffer. It's jfets and not like regular bjt transistor fuzz. This video gave me hope, but is it buffer compatible?

I have liked it. I would characterize it like a mix between fuzz and overdrive. That being said, I do have a different rig. Mine is a single coil or humbucker guitar into an AC30 clone.

As for the buffer, I would have to test it. I don’t recall having a buffered pedal before it. That being said, you could place a pickup simulator in front to help with that issue. I have a mod board for a pickup simulator that you could insert before the pedal. If you want a board, send me a note and I’ll get it in the mail to you.

I appreciate the recommendation on the pick sim and I've tried those in the past in builds and always disliked them because the lack of dynamics...I use the volume and tone on my guitars a lot. So if the fuzz sucks after a buffer I'll skip it.

you can’t be serious with an rj demo
RJ is my HB and a fellow Detroiter. Plus he's genuinely a nice guy and can play his ass off. But whatever dude 😂

I quite like his playing. Wish I could play as well as he does. Less impressed with his facial expressions. It's a pet hate of mine. Sorry if this offends anyone but face making while playing to this extent drives me crazy.

This question has been deep in the back of my craw for weeks now and I finally tested it. As far as I can tell, it is indeed buffer compatible. It's not volume-knob-reactive anyway, so the buffer doesn't really change that behavior either.

Yeah, I can't shake the thought here of how similar it looks to the funny faces women make when you're doing a good job laying pipe on her.

I have mine after a DOD rubberneck delay which I think is buffered. I assume since it is a Jfet pedal their wont be issues

But that’s part of it. Your distain for facial expressions is holding you back!

I can't remember where I came across it (long time ago, in a Galaxy 500 far aweigh...), but there was some online argument about excessive gurning while playing — specific to a blues-guitarist shoot-out put on by Guitar-Centre or some such retail chain.

I watched the competitors vids and there were some talented folk, some with gimmicks such as the guy that whipped a spoon out of his back pocket for some slide in the middle of his solo spot. I think spoon-man was my personal favourite, but this was oh-so-long-ago...

Enneh-hoooo ... The guy who won, and the source of online-debate, was told by a friend just before the contestant went on before the judges to just over-exaggerate emoting everehting while solo-ing — and indeed the guy was ludicrously OTT, but the judges were entertained and lapped it up and so Mr Gurner-Solo-Yeesh won.

To be fair, if it's not a pure music based competition, then showmanship is a part of putting on a performance.

Sure, understood. There were some players who were technically better than others but with ZERO showmanship and boring as F.

I want to see some showmanship, I want to be entertained, but if I wanted to go to a gurning-competition I'd go to a gurning-competition not to a blues head-cutting session. Nonetheless, as I recall the winner was a good player, and I enjoyed his theatrics so I guess it wasn't as OTT as to get into SNL-satirical skit-scat levels.

So, about that Nein Fuzz... I'd like to try it.
